Ever wonder how it is that famous folk’s sex scandals are consistently popping up all over the Net, and it seems as if they don’t seem to be mindful of it? Everyone loves a little celebrity gossip here and there. We all know it is more entertaining when scandals aren’t about us. But what is it about people’s lives that we find so necessary to keep up with? And why are scandals so entertaining? It can be many things.
Some things that interest us as humans when it comes to scandals can be prior experiences and relations. Sometimes, it can be a matter of being mesmerized by the lifestyles that stars lead. When we see famous ( and in many cases spoiled ) celebs stumble over themselves because they see themselves as untouchable, we get a certain gratification in that. Additionally, for those famous individuals that we admire based on their standing ( like public leaders ), we simply can’t believe that they’d do something to jeopardise that public standing and the trust that comes with their position.
Virtually every week, favored folk are exploited, or otherwise end up in a scandal. What’s surprising is how some of these folk act so shocked to be caught in the act. Itis like they didn’t think it would turn out that way. Sooner or later, folk need to realize the actions they engage in can have a negative result on them later on down the road – even after they think the situation has been buried and forgotten about.
Take for instance, last year in the Presidential elections. Word was leaked that Sarah Palin’s daughter got pregnant in highschool. Many people attacked Palin, since she is meant to be sort of an inspiration, and yet her child is underage and not only having sex, but fell pregnant before getting wed.
If that wasn’t enough, soon afterwards the start of the campaign, word leaked out that Palin’s child was no longer with the father of her baby. That was such a widespread shock, because many people thought theywould be getting married. The press made it sound like an enormous sex scandal. But think about it for amoment : relationships can begin and be really good. Then, out of the blue, take a turn for the worse. That is something many people can relate to, but since it is someone else’s life, it is more shocking and entertaining to the general public.
It is simply human instinct to show interest in other people’s’s private life, as long as it’s not us, and it doesn’t affect our lives. We are entertained by those public figures who are glorified on the television, but who are then embarrassed publicly at times for the foolish acts they do.
The entertainment industry thrives upon the public’s curiosity. As long as we consider our own lives to be less crucial or exciting than the lives of these celebs, we will probably continue our obsession with celebrity gossip. But aren’t we happy it’s not us in their place!
